Ugh. Can someone find me a nice, simple blog theme? I have no idea what I'm doing here.

cake pops, birthdays, and chances

I spent most of my Friday re-organizing my iTunes library and finally finishing Jenny Han's Summer I Turned Pretty series. Yeah, I guess you could say it's a teenie-bopper kinda book, but I'm really not picky about books either. I loved it. I grew obsessed with the story line, the characters, and I even felt their emotions as I continued to read.

Later that day, I headed down South with the family. We didn't stay for too long. Yenno, made the usual stop at Bellis Fair, and my favourite, Target. I love Target. And not just why you might think (no, not just because there's a boy). I just love getting lost in the aisles at Target. There's always something new to find. Anyway, we had Mexican food for dinner and then we stopped by Walmart quickly before heading home. I surprisingly did find a few things down at Bellis Fair, though. Old Navy had a crazy sale going on. A lot of things were marked 75% off! Found some crazy bargains, like $6 shorts, $3 tops, and of course I had to snatch some of those famous ON flip flops, too.

We got back at around 11:30 and Mom had this crazy idea asking me to bake cupcakes for my nephew's first birthday the following day. Then, crazy me, I agreed, and set myself up for a challenge. I didn't make the cupcakes. I made Cake Pops!

I'd been meaning to try out those tasty treats, and this was the perfect opportunity for me to test them out. I ended up baking at 2 in the morning, and hitting the sack at 4:30. Unfortunately, I couldn't finish them right away. I had to let them cool first! Something that'll be a challenge for me in the future, with my career. I have almost no patience when it comes to the kitchen. I guess you could call me motivated when I'm in there. All I ever want to do is start what I finish. Then and there.

I woke up six hours later, tired, but excited to get working and finally see the finished product. I still had to roll the cake into balls and dip them in chocolate. Sadly, cause I was in a rush, I couldn't exactly take pictures of each step in the kitchen. It was an easier process than I'd thought, but like always, whenever I experiment new things for the first time, something always goes wrong. After a while, the chocolate got lumpy and thick and a few of the cakes ended up falling apart. At the end, though, I was pretty happy with the way they turned out.
I'm kinda sad that I couldn't get a better picture, but all I brought with me to the park was my phone! I was also so rushed that I couldn't even make the styrofoam base look all pretty. Nonetheless, my cake pops were a hit. I definitely can't wait to try making them again and avoiding my "first time" mistakes.

Here's the birthday boy.
The poor guy was already beat and ready for his afternoon nap, but when I told him to smile for the camera, he tried his best to let one out anyway. I'll take it though! This kid's adorable, just like his two older brothers.

Today I was still on a baking high from Saturday morning that I was in the mood to take a chance one more time. I decided to make little chocolate macarons. I didn't end up as lucky with them as I did with the cake pops. They were still tasty though! Just not "blog-worthy." I'm planning on trying to make them again some time this week though, so stay tuned!

cousinly love

I seriously, seriously need to start using my camera again!... at least until I can actually save up enough money to get me and slr! So I apologize in advance, this is gonna be a pretty texty, photo-less post.

I guess I'll just kick off my blog starting from this week.

This week was pretty slow. I did, though, get to spend some time cousin bonding with my "weekenders," Tish and Tino! I picked up Vincci first and we ended up driving to Vancouver. It was my first time driving to the city without my parents and only my second time driving there at all. Turns out, we actually had no idea why we decided to drive all the way there, but it ended up being alright! We decided to check out the Canucks store for fun, and we were pretty excited to find that this year's merchandise was 40% off. I had to hold myself back! I'm broke (seriously, I am) and I really need to save. I had my eye on a $60 sweater, but ended up settling for a $13 tee. I'm hoping the sweater's still there next week!

Spent a ton of money on gas, didn't bring a GPS, rode with an unhelpful passenger, accidentally scratched up the left side mirror in a tight alley, but I still managed to find my way. Only took three times longer than it normally should, but hey. We made it home in one piece.

When we got back, hours later, we watched two movies. Vincci got us in for free, of course, which is always a bonus, cause seriously, ticket prices are ridiculous! We watched Monte Carlo (It was Vincci's choice)! How was it? Well, I wasn't really surprised. It wasn't great, but I didn't hate it. But then again, I'm not a picky person, so to me, it was good. The second one we watched was Green Lantern. I wasn't disappointed. I heard a bunch of people say that the movie was stupid, but I really didn't see what was so stupid about it! Super hero movie + Ryan Reynolds? Could it get any better? Haha, no but seriously. I liked it!

Forgot to mention that I almost lost my dog today. Actually. I got a call from my sister while I was out and she was dazed and confused. Apparently she came home and found Princess outside on our front porch. Alone. I have no idea how she even managed to leave the front door without me noticing. She was locked out for two hours, and it's a miracle that she was still at the door, behaved, and alive. I'm still pretty choked about it though. I never saw her leave, and my Princess isn't one to run out of the house without permission.

It was a surprisingly good day, though!

I'm back, motivated, and ready to be.

So it's been a while since I've used blogspot, let alone posted something new (it's been almost two years since)! I figured it'd be a good way for me to get back in touch with my "artsy/creative" side, have something, or rather somewhere, that I can go to to free my mind, and simply share my life's adventures and kodak moments.

I hope to actually stay consistent with blogging this time, I swear! It'll be my new summer life goal, along with much, much more.

you tell me that "i don't care what you do for me" and "i'm gonna miss you when you're gone."

well you know what? you're wrong. and you know what else? you're gonna miss ME when I'M gone.

:'(

um so my sister's in mexico right now.. my life feels like it's missing a piece! (haha how lame is that?.. but seriously!) yeah, I don't know.. recently i've gotten so close to her and we got to know each other more, and in a week she really won't be living at home anymore.. it feels so weird.

when she first left for mexico, i was like greaat, when's she gonna come back? then only then did it actually hit me that very very soon, it would be a permanent kind of thing. she WON'T be at home anymore. she WON'T be next door. she WON'T be there to drive me around. she WON'T be there when I'm bored and need company. what am I gonna do?
what geelanj said. HAHA! :)

too much on my mind.. not enough energy.
too much homework.. not enough time.
too much stress.. not enough chill time.

hey school, yeah you. gtfo
